Every project follows a clear process, from the first conversation through to the day the finished home is handed over. Jonathan stays personally involved at every stage, managing the suppliers, trades and deliveries so you never have to.
The stages

Introductory call
No charge
A short call about the property, what you have in mind, your budget and timing, to make sure the project is the right fit.

Site visit
R1,250 within 10 km of the Cape Town CBD
Jonathan visits the property to understand the space, what you would like to change and what you would like to keep. Visits further afield are quoted according to distance, and the fee is credited towards the design fee if the project goes ahead.
You can share photographs, ideas and any plans you already have.

Design direction and estimate
The proposed look is brought together on mood boards, showing the furniture, colours and materials in mind for the home, alongside a preliminary estimate of the overall cost.
You review the boards and the estimate before deciding to proceed. If you would like to keep the mood boards beforehand, a separate fee applies, which is credited towards the design fee if the project goes ahead.

Confirmation and selections
Once the direction, scope and estimate are approved, the project is confirmed. Layouts, custom pieces and quotations are finalised along with a timeline for the work, and Jonathan arranges supplier meetings and accompanies you to showrooms to compare samples.
You approve every selection and quote before any orders are placed.

Orders and work on site
Orders are placed and followed up with suppliers and makers. Jonathan coordinates the deliveries and tradespeople, and is on site to oversee the work and check every finish against the agreed design.
You receive regular updates without having to manage a single supplier yourself.

Installation and handover
Everything is installed, placed and styled, and the finished home is handed over to you.
You walk into finished rooms, with nothing left to arrange.
Project timing
Decorating and furnishing projects without major building work usually take around 8 to 10 weeks, depending on the final scope and supplier delivery times. Renovation timelines depend on the extent of the work.

What does it cost to get started?
The introductory call is free. A site visit costs R1,250 within 10 km of the Cape Town CBD, or is quoted by distance elsewhere. The visit fee is credited towards the design fee if the project goes ahead. The overall project cost depends on the scope and the finishes.
How are the design and budget agreed?
Mood boards show the proposed furniture, colours and finishes, alongside a preliminary estimate of the overall project cost. You review these before proceeding. How long does furnishing take?
Most furnishing projects without extensive construction take around eight to ten weeks from formal appointment, depending on the scope and supplier lead times. Renovation timelines depend on the work involved.
Does the studio take on small projects?
Yes. Jonathan works on anything from a single room to a whole home.
Who coordinates suppliers and tradespeople?
Jonathan does. He selects the suppliers, makers and contractors with you, briefs them, coordinates the deliveries and is on site as the work goes in.
What about furniture I already own?
Tell Jonathan which pieces you would like to keep when you discuss the project. The scheme is built around them.
Does the studio work outside Cape Town?
Yes. Jonathan works on homes across South Africa.
Does the studio furnish rental properties?
Yes. Holiday homes, investment apartments and short-stay properties, including Airbnb apartments. Owners based elsewhere approve the selections remotely.
