Joseph Avnon Interiors offers a hands-on approach to residential interior design, renovation and decoration, with every project handled personally from start to finish.

Whether it’s a full renovation, furnishing a new home or updating an existing space, the focus is on understanding what the client needs and how they want the space to feel. From there, the project is carefully managed through to the final details.

Interior Design

A complete interior design service for new homes and rooms requiring a comprehensive redesign. Space planning, finishes, cabinetry, lighting and furniture are developed together so the finished interior feels coherent, comfortable and practical.

Renovations

Renovations are planned as a whole so that layouts, finishes, fittings and furnishings work together from the outset. Jonathan remains closely involved through the design and procurement stages and coordinates trusted suppliers and tradespeople through to installation.

Interior Decoration

For established homes that do not require structural work, this service focuses on furniture, colour, texture, lighting, artwork and finishing details. Existing pieces can be incorporated alongside new and custom-made items.

Holiday Home & Short-Stay Furnishing

A complete furnishing service is available for Cape Town holiday homes, investment apartments and short-stay properties, including Airbnb properties. The service can cover layouts, furniture and décor sourcing, window treatments, lighting, artwork, accessories, delivery and final installation.

Projects can also be coordinated for owners based elsewhere, with design decisions and progress updates handled remotely.

Interior Design Process

Each project follows a considered and structured process, from the initial conversation and design development through to procurement, installation and final styling.

Initial Consultation

The process begins with a brief phone consultation to discuss the property, the proposed scope of work, preferred style and anticipated budget.

This helps establish whether the project is a suitable fit before arranging an on-site consultation.

On-Site Consultation

Following the introductory call, an on-site consultation is arranged to discuss the property, your requirements and the direction for the project. The fee is R1,250 for properties within 10 kilometres of Cape Town CBD. Consultations outside this area are quoted according to travel distance. Should the project proceed, the consultation fee is credited towards the design fee.

Design Direction

Following the consultation, a tailored design direction is developed, supported by mood boards and preliminary project cost estimates.

Should clients wish to retain the mood boards, a fee is charged. If the project proceeds, this amount is credited towards the design fee.

Project Confirmation and Planning

Once the proposed design direction, scope and estimated costs have been approved, the project is formally confirmed and a detailed programme is established.

Projects that do not involve extensive construction or renovation generally take approximately 8–10 weeks, depending on the final scope and supplier lead times.

Design Fee

The design fee is calculated at 12.5% excluding VAT of the total project value.

For projects below a certain overall value, a minimum design fee applies.
