2025 Interior Trends: Earthy, Elegant, Organic

As an Interior Designer in Ballito, I’ve noticed a shift taking place in how people want their homes to feel. More than ever, clients are seeking spaces that connect them to nature—environments that breathe, soothe, and restore. It’s no surprise that nature-inspired interiors are one of the biggest trends for 2025 and heading into 2026.

A Return to Nature, Organically

This isn’t just about adding houseplants or rattan chairs. What we’re seeing is a movement toward holistic biophilic design—architecture and interiors that honour natural materials, local light, organic forms, and earthy textures. According to House & Garden UK and Elle Decor, 2025 is about going deeper into slow design, favouring tactile fabrics, imperfect finishes, and colours drawn directly from nature’s palette—mossy greens, clay, olive, sand, and bark.

In Ballito, where lush coastal vegetation and relaxed living set the tone, this trend couldn’t be more aligned. I’ve been designing with more natural finished wood, woven elements, and local craftsmanship—emphasising texture and handmade design and sourcing sustainably wherever possible.

Earthy Greens Are the New Neutrals

Sage, olive, and even forest green are the stars of the palette for 2025–26. Designers globally are embracing these tones as grounding alternatives to grey or beige, bringing warmth and soul to spaces. I particularly love using deep greens for upholstery or rugs and layering with linen, sisal, and handwoven pieces to add tactile depth.

For my Ballito and beyond based clients, this trend feels especially relevant. The connection to the outdoors is already so strong—it’s just a matter of amplifying it indoors with the right materials and tones.

My Curated Nature-Inspired Décor Picks

Here are six of my favourite pieces right now that reflect this organic movement. These are items I would personally incorporate into client homes to elevate natural, timeless elegance:

4. Oliver Green Leaf Vase – Creative Living – R529
